Show High School, North Elementary PTA Units Receive Awards i Serving as active PTA units In Cedar City during the school year of 1937 8. the High School and North Elementary were hon- ored this week by each receiving recognition of Standards of Achievement certificates. Both IT A units received the Oak Leaf citation, which is the highest awarde to be given for accomplishments accomp-lishments in t he PTA program of the organization. Mrs. Walter Hansink, prist president of the high school, and Mrs. Aubra Lambeth, past president presi-dent of the North Elementary, were presented these certificate.'; of awards by Mrs. Kum'-n Gardner Gard-ner who served as council president pres-ident of tho Cedar City schools last year. To receive any achievement award given by the State Parent-Teacher organization, certain requirements have to be met, but the oak leaf citation Is an honor given only when the highest high-est requirements have been met that are set forth by the National Na-tional Parent-Teacher Association. Associa-tion. This is the first time this high recognition has been given in Iron County, and as far as can be learned, the first in Region Re-gion 8, which Includes Iron, Beaver Bea-ver and Washington counties. Mrs. Hansink and Mrs. Lam beth realize that this goal could never have been reached, nor the award given without the help ol their efficient unit board members, mem-bers, room mothers, the principals, princi-pals, Pratt Ecthcrs, high school and Oscar Hulet, North Elementary, Elemen-tary, and faculty of both units Also to be recognized for genuine genu-ine support are the parents ol both schools who supported theii PTA in every respect.
