Show Christmas Trees- A Problem . Many complaints have been voiced against pro mi s-cuous s-cuous Christmas Tree cutting on private property, and a plea is made for some type of action that could prevent this practice. The Forest Service insists that permits be obtained for cutting trees on the forest, and attempts are made to police these areas. However, there seems to be no recourse by private property owners against cutting trees on their property, unless they happen to be present at the time of Ahe act. Few owners would object to cutting of an occasional tree if they are taken from remote or out-of-the-way places. Some people fail to recognize the rights and wishes wish-es of property owners in the matter, which creates much "111 feeling. An illustration of such lack of consideration is found In an instance at. the mountain home of Ren Taylor. Recently Re-cently a number of large fir trees were cut in the immediate immed-iate vicinity of the home and only the tops of these trees used. Tiie trees all surrounding the house, had been protected pro-tected to add to the attractiveness of the home site, and :it was certainly an act for which some punishment should .be applicable, to wreak such damage. The Taylor ranch situation may be an extreme example ex-ample of the situation, bi:t it happens many times to . lesser extent, and is c rtainly a regrettable practice. |
