Show I CSU Speech Department Prepares Forums "Are labor unions ioo powerful? power-ful? Should legislat.m be passed pass-ed limiting the power of unions?" un-ions?" These are questions to be considered con-sidered in the first of a scries of weekly forum discussions to be presented by the College of Southern Utah Speech Department, Depart-ment, Monday evening at 7:30 in the CSU Libary Lounge. The opening discussion will be In the form of a debate-forum. Both sides of this timely question ques-tion will be discussed by four CSU debaters, and then question ques-tion will be opened up for discussion dis-cussion by townseople and students. stu-dents. All who ae interested are invited to attend and participate, partici-pate, it was stated by Richard M. Rowley, deparment chairman, who Is in charge of the series. 'Students in the Creative Discussion Dis-cussion class at CSU are in charge of arrangements for the forum series. Janice Carton, St. George, is student chairman of the first forum series. Creative approaches to the solution of other important and controversial subjects will be explored ex-plored in future discussions. Each week a variation in the forum structure will be demonstrated. demon-strated. Second in the series, scheduled for Monday April 16, will be a lecture-forum. Arrange ments are being completed to bring a lecturer of promience to be featured on that dale. A symposium-forum, a panel forum, a dialogue-forum, a colloquy and a "brainstorming session" are among the variations of the open forum planned series. Each will be held in the libary lounge and will begin at 7:30 p. m. Mondays, through May 21. |
