Show Increased Items Indicated for Annual Spring Art Exhibit Opening April 15 Glen Anderson, popular local art instructor and chairman of the annual Cedar City Spring Art Exhibit, reports that response from artists to exhibit in the local lo-cal show has been very graify-ing graify-ing and that form 20 to 30 more paintings will be hung this year than for the past few years. Not only is the number of exhibitors ex-hibitors gratifying, the chairman stated, but the exhibit has attracted at-tracted many outstanding artists from all parts of the country who are sending paintngs, which assures as-sures patrons of a wide range of art by top ranked artists. Many of the paintings have already been received and work of unpacking will begin Monday evening, Mr. Anderson states. The exhibit will again be hung In the South Elementary School auditorium, and will be open to the public each day from 9:00 a. m. to 10 p. m. In addition guide service will be provided so that any group can arrange to visit the exhibit in a group with art leaders on hand to discuss the works of the various artists. The exhibit will open on Sunday, Sun-day, April IS and continue through Sunday, April 29th., which should provide ample time for people from all parts of south-em south-em Utah to visit this most interesting in-teresting display. Guest artists will appear at Sunday afternoon programs on April 15 tfnd 22, and a musical program under direction of Dr. Blaine Johnson of the College of Southern Utah, will climax the closing day activities. As usual all paintings in the exhibit will be offered for sale and it is expected that many fine works of art will remain In this area to adorn the walls of institutions and homes. Hundreds Hun-dreds of paintings have been purchased in this area throughout through-out the history of the exhibit, to provide lasting appreciation for fine art among the citizens of Southern Utah and adjacent areas. |
