Show Douglas Lunt Wins 'Distinguished Service Award Douglas Lunt, 36, a designing engineer with Columbia Iron Mining Company and a past president of the Cedar City Junior Chamber of Commerce, was named nam-ed the outstanding young man of Cedar City for 1960 at the annual distinguished Service Award ban-quet ban-quet staged Thursday evening. A selection committee headed by Mayor Arnold Anderson rfiade the announcement of the recipient recip-ient of the coveted award at the annual banquet, which is held in connection with Jaycee Week. Lunt, a past president of the Cedar City Jaycees, is also a past president of the Utah Junior Chamber of Commerce. Long List of Actiities A long list of activities were cited In recognition of his selection se-lection which includes, in addition addi-tion to community service, personal per-sonal gains and integrity. Listed as one of the- most Important Im-portant activities which Lunt has participated In during the last year was the Wood's Ranch Recreation Rec-reation area development Lunt has served as chairman of the Wood's Ranch project for Iron County this past year nd in addition ad-dition has headed a special committee com-mittee from the Junior Chamber of Commerce at the recreation site. Through Ms leadership organl-ration organl-ration of a host of county, civic and church group. have been completed and work undertaken at the site during the year. In . addition the Junior Chamber has been one of the most active groups working at the Wood's Ranch area In clearing and pre paring the area as outlined by the central committee. In addition to these duties he has been active In church activities, activi-ties, serving as a Sunday School teacher in his ward. He participated partici-pated actively in politics supporting sup-porting the party of his choice and he had served as a Pack Committee chairman for the Cub Scouts. Little League basball in Cedar City has benefited by Lunt's residence In Cedar City as an active and qualified un-.pire in addition to furnishing two boys to participate In the program. For the occasion Mrs. Lunt was on hand and Joined her husband following his being named as the 1960 DSA winner. He received a standing salute from Jaycees and Interested citizens In attendance attend-ance at the banquet which was held at Sullivan's El Rey Cafe. In addition to the awarding of the Distinguished Service Award the Jaycees also had as special guests for the evening their Bosses. Certificates Issued Also club president Bud Bowman Bow-man issued a number of certificates certifi-cates to businesses and Individuals Individ-uals for their support during the past year. Speaker for the evening was Sheldon Olds, a past president of the Cedar City Junior Chamber of Commerce, and the Utah State Jaycees. He Is also a past recipient recip-ient of both the Ce"ff City and State Dlstinqulshed Service Awards. Master of ceremonies for the evening was Eldon Webster and the affair was under the chairmanship chair-manship of R. L. Gardner, Immediate Im-mediate past president of the Jaycees. Overall chairman for the Jaycee Week was Sheldon Prest-wich. Prest-wich. Business and Indiridual Certificates awarded by Bowman Bow-man during the evening went to four business establishments including in-cluding California-Pacific Uiill- ties Company, Candy Trailer Sales, Iron County Record and Radio Station KSUB. Also receiving receiv-ing Certificates was the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce and Cedar City Corporation. Personal Recognition Mel Ence, F. E. Gaines, DeMar Bowman and Gurlie K.
