May 11, 1959, for all live and recently dead (sound sap wood) sawtimber marked or designated for cut-j ting located on an area of approximately ap-proximately 10,3-10 acres In the Strawberry Creek Drainage, T. 38, S., R. 7 W., T. 38 S., R 8 W.. and T. 39 S., R 8 W., Salt Lake Meri-1 dian, Dixie National Forest, esti-j mated to contain live and recently re-cently dead (sound sap wood) sawtimber as follows: 9,100 M feet b.m. of Ponderosa pine; 7,800 M feet b.m. of Douglas Fir; 9.200 M feet b.m. of white fir; 720 M feet b.m. of Engelmann spruce; and 75 M feet b.m. of limber pine, f more or less. In addition there Is within the sale area an unestl- j mated volume of merchantable i older dead (unsound sapwood) sawtimber of all species which i will be paid for at the rate of $0.50 per M feet b.m. ! The minimum acceptable bid ; for live and recently dead (sound sapw(Mxl) ponderosa pine is $5.20 per M board feet. The tentative stumpage rates for live and recently dead (sound sapwood) sawtimber shall be reduced re-duced or Increased by 0.5 of the difference between the Western Pine Association Index prW for the period October 1 to December 31, 1958, and the average of the Western Pine Association index price as calculated by the Forest For-est Service at the end of each calendar quarter. Adjustment for ponderosa pine will be based upon up-on the 1954-55-56 ponderosa pine Index; for Douglas fir upon the dry larch-Douglas fir 1951-52-53 Index; for white fir and limber pine upon the white fir 1942-49 . r- i -, '. Biuti; upon the Engelmann spruce 1953-54 Index. As a qualification for oral bidding, bid-ding, each bidder must submit a sealed bid to the Forest Super visor prior to 10 a. m. on May 11, 1959. A certified check, money order, cashier's check, or bank draft payable to the Forest Service. Ser-vice. USDA, in the amount of $5,200.00 must accompany each sealed bid to be applied on the purchase price, refunded, or retained re-tained In whole or in part as actual ac-tual or liquidated damages according ac-cording to the provisions of the bid. Non-compliance with this requirement in the invitation to bid that a certified check or equivalent be submitted with the bid will require rejection of the bid as unresponsive. Sealed bids will be publicly opened and posted post-ed at the Forest Supervisor's office of-fice at 10 a. m. on May 11, 1959. All those who submit a satisfactory satisfac-tory sealed bid, will be permitted Immediately to continue auction bidding. Bidding will be kep open as long as may be neces-' neces-' sary In the judgment of the For-I For-I est Supervisor to give all Interested Inter-ested parties an opportunity to bid. If an oral bid is declared to be high at the closing of the auction, the bidder must Immediately Immed-iately confirm the oral bid by submitting it in writing on a Forest Service bid form. Minimum advance payments, permissive suspension balance and maximum advance balances which the purchaser may be required re-quired to have at any time will be computed when the award Is made, based upon the estimated value of one month's cut. before award Is made the pur-chaser pur-chaser .may be required to submit sub-mit a financial statement showing show-ing possession or availability of equipment and resources to enable en-able performance of the terms of the contract The right to reject any and all bids Is reserved.
