Show Cedar Tracksters Set Three Class B Records Four speedsters from the Cedar Ce-dar City High School made the 220 mile trip to Provo last Saturday Sat-urday to compete In the High School Activities Association relay re-lay carnival, and returned with three victories, three records In the three events they entered in addition to laurels from spectators specta-tors and sports fans from all over the state. Anderson, Anderson, Prince and Lindsay went into the record books following the meet and may stay there for awhile. Gary Anderson, a senior, the fastest man In the state this year, and probably in a number of years to come, heads up the four-man team. He Is ably backed up by his brother, Larry Anderson, Ander-son, a junior, who ran second to Gary in the BYU Invitational meet; Ron Prince, another senior, sen-ior, and Danny Lindsay, a soph-more. soph-more. The foursome came home with trophies for winning the 880 yard relay, their specialty, in the time of 1:31.9 a new record. Coach Hal Norton Indicated that the team hopes to shave some time off this event at the Region Ten meet at Milford Saturday. Fhst place and another new record for the Class B ranks was established in the sprint medley relay which consists of two 110 yard dashes and two 220 yard dashes. Time for this event was 1:07.6 minutes. Third first place and third new state mark of the day came in the shuttle relay. This event consists con-sists of four 100 yard dashes performed per-formed on the football field. Starter begins at one end, hands to the first recipient of the b -ton at the opposite end and he ln turn returns It to the starting start-ing position. Time for this event was :43.1 seconds. The four-man team certainly turned In the top performance of the day at the annual gathering at least In the Class B ranks. |
