Show Second Economic Development Conference Tor Southern Utah Set at St. George May 6 Southern Utah Economic Development De-velopment conference, second of its kind to be held tn the area, will be staged at St George on Wednesday, May 6, It was announced an-nounced this week by the St. George Chamber of Commerce. First conference was staged at Cedar City In June, 195a Topic of the conference, to be discussed by specialists In their .respective fields from throughout through-out the state, will be "The Economic Econ-omic Potential and the Future Industrial Expansion of our Area." Morning session of the conference confer-ence will begin at 10 and will he held at Dixie College. Speakers Speak-ers for the session will Include Chester J. Olson, director of State Park and Recreation Committee; Com-mittee; Harold S. Crane, director, State Fish and Game Commission; Commis-sion; Dr. J. Stewart Williams of Utah State University and a representative rep-resentative of the Pacific Northwest North-west Pipeline Company, who will discuss the prospucts for natural as in southern Utah. Guest speaker at the luncheon to be served at the VFW banquet hall will be Vinton D. Carver, general manager of Salt Lake plant of Litton Industries. Mr. Carver will discuss the possibilities possibili-ties for electronics and other defense de-fense Industries in southern Utah. Afternoon session will feature D. James Cannon, director Utah Tourist and Publicity Council; C. Taylor Burton, chairman, Utah State Road Commission; Paul R. Franke, superintendent Zion National Na-tional Park and Charles Carter, U. S. Bureau of Reclamation, who will discuss electrical power from Glen Canyon. j Conference is being sponsored by the Five County Organization and the Utah Committee on Industrial In-dustrial and Employment Planning.
