Show Former Cedar City Resident Named Speaker At High School Commencement Exercises Richard M. Macfalane, former resident of Cedar City and now assistant to the president of the Dole Hawaiian f Pineapple Co., will be the commencement speaker for the graduation exercises exer-cises of the Cedar City .High School, it was announced by Pratt M. Bethers, principal. , High school graduation exercises exer-cises will be held In the College cf Southern Utah auditorium on Wednesday, May 27. Immediately following his graduation he joined the staff of the Salt Lake Tribune and was a reporter and later an assistant city editor. In 1945 he joined the San Francisco News where he became be-came maritime editor of the paper. He covered the United Nations Na-tions Conference in 1945 and later" la-ter" was in charge of .the , staff covering the Japanese Peace Conference Con-ference in San Francisco. - Mr. Macfarlane joined Dole in 1954 as assistant to the public relations director, moving to Honolulu Ho-nolulu where he and his family resided for over two years.
