Show City Council Names New Street Supervisor, Approves Canyon Water Line Improvements The Parowan City Council, at Its meeting Monday evening, appointed ap-pointed Woodrow Decker as supervisor sup-ervisor of city streets, sidewalks and water system. It was announced an-nounced during the week by Mayor Howard Joseph. Decker will assume his duties on Friday, Fri-day, May 1, or as soon as he can arrange for someone to operate the Parowan Conoco Service Station Sta-tion which he has under lease until Aug 1. 1959. Decker will fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of, Fred Dal ton, who resigned from' this position to help his father, Rulon Dalton, operate his farming farm-ing and livestock holdings. He has held this Job for the past 15 months. I Mayor Joseph also stated that the city is going ahead with plans to lay new and larger pipe In the city culinary pipe line above the Four Mile, where considerable con-siderable water is being lost by breaks in the present line. The city is also undertaking some improvements at the headworks In the Right Fork of Parowan Canyon from which water goes into the main line to propel the Paragonah hydro plant of the Parowan city electrical system. The Intake pipe here is being extended ex-tended up the canyon for an additional ad-ditional 120 feet to keep it clear 1 of any flood waters which might come down that canyon. The Cemetery committee reported re-ported at the Monday meeting that already a goodly number of citizens have taken advantage of the perpetual care program being I offered for cemetery lots. The program has Just been inaugurated inaugur-ated .this year by the city. The council approved the retiring retir-ing of $10,000 worth of Parowan City Electric Income bonds, Issued Is-sued three years ago to complete the Red Creek hydro-electric plant and lines, Mayor Joseph also informs us. |
