Show Utah Symphony Primed for Impressive Year The 1957-58 Utah Symphony season opens next week, Wed-esnesday, Wed-esnesday, Oct. 30, and the year ahead looks like "one of the greatest the Utah Symphony has ever enjoyed," according to Raymond Ray-mond J. Ashton, president of the Utah Symphony board. Conductor Maurice Abravanel will be back for his 11th season as musical director as well as conductor and all the principal players from last year, including Concertmaster Harold Wolf, will return. The Symphony will appear in Cedar City on Friday, Nov. 15, as the second number of the lDT-3 AvTuslc Arts rilc. Appearing Ap-pearing as guest soloist with the Symphony for the Cedar City conceit will be Irving Wasser-mann, Wasser-mann, pianist, who is very well known here, having appeared for the past two or three years as a member of the College of South-ern South-ern Utah summer school faculty. Other guest soloists to appear with the symphony during the winter season Include Nadine Conner, Metropolitan Opera star; Tossy Splvakocski. world -famed violislst; Jose Iturbi, popular pianist pi-anist and movie great; Grant Johannesen, Internationally famous fam-ous Utah pianist, and Luboschuiz and Nemenoff, famed piano! team. |
