Show I Fifth Grade Students Tackle Boondoogle Sale "Boondoogle" is the name attached at-tached to the thin, plastic tape now being sold in the boondoogle store at Mr. Adams' Fifth grade room at West Elementary School. This easy . to . handle plastic braiding tape is being used by students In the West Elementary Elemen-tary to make bracelets, western ties, key chains, lanyards and belts. The store itself gives much practical arithmetic experience to the students who run it. They have to measure off the boondoogle, boon-doogle, figure the cost and make change. The students work in pairs and everyone takes his turn at being the storekeeper. Students from the Junior High and High School have been frequent fre-quent visitors to the store and the Fifth grade has had some trouble In keeping an adequate stock of the handicraft material mater-ial on its shelves. The store is run as a non-profit organization and prices an set to cover the cost of boondoogle, boon-doogle, glue and postage. Instruction on how to construct the different items is given by Mr. Adams and by students who have learned the necessary pro-cesses pro-cesses involved In making each Item. The store opens at 2:40 p. m. and remains open until 4 p. m. each school day. |
