Show Nellis Air Force Base Team Trims Cedar City All-Stars A Nellis Air Force Base soft-ball soft-ball team of Las Vegas, Nev., downed a strong Cedar City all-star all-star team 11 to 4, Saturday evening eve-ning on the local diamond. Errors were the dominent factor fac-tor in the game with each team committing nine. However, Cedar's Ce-dar's errors came at critical points of the game. Two costly errors and three hits allowed the Air Force team to take the lead In the first inning of play, scoring scor-ing three runs. Nellis outhit the Cedar nine 8 to 7, but managed to score 11 runs off those hits while Cedar scored only 4 runs from 7 hits. Nellis' big inning was the seventh se-venth when they scored 5 runs on two hits. Meadows, playing third base, knocked out a homea run with the bases loaded, the only homerun of the evening. The only extra base hit for the all-stars was a double lined out by Gordon Sargent, first baseman. base-man. Playing on the Cedar City all-star all-star team were Dick Dotson, catcher; George Sturzenegger, pitcher; Sargent, first base; Cleo Petty, second base; Lowell Sher-ratt, Sher-ratt, third base; Benny Madsen, short stop; LaMar Clark, left field; Donald Milne, center field; Kent Dover, right field. Berdell Ruesch and Mell Reeves divided honors with Sturzenegger on the mound and Owen Gulliford Keith Cripps and Neil Christiansen Christian-sen relieved the outfielders. Boyd Adams relieved Dotson at the catcher position. |
