Show Twain Tippetts Named Typical Delegate ol 1952 f . : - i . :y, 1 .. .. ; '" : I .. . -.. - . 1 v 1 Twain Tippetts, head of the speech and drama department of the Branch Agricultural college and a Utah delegate to the National Na-tional Democratic convention in Chicago, Monday was named "Democratic Delegate of 1952," by the National Broadcasting system. As a result his every move Tuesday was recorded on television. The idea of the selection of "Delegate of 1952" was to show a typical, young uncommitted delegate attending his first national na-tional convention, and give the television audience an idea of how such a delegate. reacts to the momentious happenings at the convention. The NBC officials offi-cials reported that Tippetts fit the "typical delegate" billing perfectly because "he comes from a small town, Is a veteran, is attending at-tending his first convention, and best of all is photogenic." The popular BAC speech director di-rector was followed all day Tuesday Tues-day by the NBC television cameras. cam-eras. During the day he was to have the privilege of meeting and talking to each of the various vari-ous candidates seeking the presidential presi-dential nomination, with TV cameras recording his meetings and his reactions. In addition the cameras were to record his every move where he went, what he did, where he ate, and what he said. Mr. Tippetts, who has been at the Branch Agricuutural college i for a number of years, has been I actively engaged in civic affairs I and politics throughout that timej He has taken an active part in the affairs of the Democratic party of Cedar City, climaxing his political activities by gaining a place on the Utah delegation to the national ocnvention. |
