Show Rams Down Tropic 46-27 in First Game of Season Starting out slowly and erratically er-ratically last Saturday night Coach William Jones' Parowan high school Rams began clicking click-ing later in the evening to win their opening basketball game here with the Tropic high team by a score of 46-27. The game was minutes old before be-fore either team could score although al-though both had several opportunities. oppor-tunities. Steve Adams finally broke the Ice for the Rams midway mid-way of the first quarter, with a field goal and then each team started scoring with the quarter quar-ter ending in a 6-6 tie. riay remained close and still erratic In the second period although al-though the Rams took a 11 to 9 lead during this quarter. The local lo-cal team was working the ball through for shots but the men were tense and missed most of their opportunities. But a tight Ram defense Jcept the Tropic boys a long way from the hoop. After the halftime rest both teams started to hit better with the Rams getting the best of It to pull away to a 3218 lead at the end of the third quarter. And they continued to draw further away in the fourth period until the game ended. Coach Jones used all 10 of his first string men In the game. Melvin Mitchell, Jay Winter and John Benson, with 14, 13 and 12 points respectively, did the heavy hea-vy scoring for the Rams with Smith, with 12, and Sudweeks with 11 points, leading the Tropic shooters. The Parowan team continues its practice play with two games this week end, one at home and one away. On Friday the Knter-prise Knter-prise Wolves come to Parowan, and on Saturday the Rams go over the hill to Orderville for a game with Valley high. |
