Show I Student Operetta Seen by 2,500 Children, Adults Comedy and colorful costumes marked Cedar City Junior High school's presentation of the operetta oper-etta "The White Gypsy," Thursday, Thurs-day, Nov. 29, in the school auditorium. au-ditorium. Mr, Al Rich was in charge of the production. A total of more than 2,500 persons, per-sons, including the students of all schools in the city, attended the operetta performances Wednesday Wed-nesday and Thursday, it was reported by L. C. Miles, principal of Cedar City Junior High. "The White Gyspy," composed for students of junior high school age, relates in song and drama the story of a band of gypsies who find themselves a permanent perman-ent home by helping the residents resi-dents of a fictional town to overthrown over-thrown a tyrant and restore their rightful king. The setting is largely in the woods outside the fictional town in which the story transpires. The production's great success is largely attributable to the efficient ef-ficient cooperation of departments depart-ments of the school, Mr. Miles said. Merle Lindsay, Evelyn Harrocks, Mrs. Florence Tippetts, Mrs. Ada Carpenter and Mrs. Irene Hyatt supervised preparation prepar-ation of the operetta, much of the work being performed by student groups, Mr. Miles added. Students appearing in the cast included LaVar Short, Kathleen Matheson, Sheron Cor-ry, Cor-ry, Janice Jones, Juanita Hazel, Jerry Matheson, Rudy Torres, Jeanette Rollins, Diane Cooley, Diana Fife, Margie Farrow, Jeanette Flanigan, Janlne Bauer, Gerry Smith, Frank Berrett, Vernon Ver-non pierce, Bernett Baldwin, Roger Slack and Kenneth Orton. |
