Show Plans for Turkey Show Set In St. George The best of the turkey crop is being selected and groomed this week in preparation for the fourth annual Utah Turkey Show which will be held at St. George Dec. 6, 7 and 8. Meanwhile, plans for the turkey tur-key show and convention programs pro-grams are developing rapidly. Dall S, Prows executive manager of the show reports that Douglas Doug-las R. Stringfellow, Ogden, prominent prom-inent western public speaker will for the Utah Turkey federation on Dec. 7. Mr, Stringfellow, who has become popular because of his miraculous adjustment from physical disability caused by brutal tortures while in a German Ger-man prison in World War II, will speak on his wartime experiences experi-ences and international affairs. Other developments of the turkey tur-key event include the selection of George H. Draper of Texts as show judge. Mr. Draper, who is supervisor of the National Turkey Tur-key Improvement Plan in Texas, is a prominent figure in the nation's na-tion's turkey industry. He had been associated with a turkey hatchery at Yoakum, Texas for several years before accepting his present position. This year's show will include both live and dressed exhibits in the open" and junior divisions. There will be classes for the large and small breeds of turkeys, tur-keys, reported Mr. Prows. Although Al-though the Junior division is limited to Utah entries, the open division is receiving entries from other states. Mr. Prows reported that already exhibitors have applied ap-plied from California, Oregon and Washington, as well as Utah. Besides Mr. Prows this year's turkey show is being planned and directed by the following: William A. Barlocker, St. George, executive chairman; Anson B. Call, Brigham City, chairman of the junior division; Stanley Voor-hees, Voor-hees, Manti, chairman of the dressed division; Cecil W. Sanders, San-ders, La Verkin, chairman of the grower's committee; Owen Sanders, San-ders, La Verkin, chairman of the live division; Alden K. Barton, Bar-ton, Salt Lake City, representative representa-tive of the Utah State Department Depart-ment of Agriculture; W. R. Jenkins, Jen-kins, Logan, extension poultry-man, poultry-man, and Clay Robinson, Sandy, publicity. |
