Show Robert Sherratt Dies of Crash Injuries Robert Bums Sherratt, 75, lifelong life-long resident of Cedar City, died Monday evening of injuries suffered suf-fered as he was struck by an automobile as he was riding his horse back along the highway just north of Cedar City. The accident ac-cident occurred at about 7 p. m. Nov. 12, one week before death came to the injured man. Mr. Sherratt, who had made a practice of riding his horse each day, was returing to his home, when a car driven by David Bentley, 17, crashed into the horse and rider, killing the horse and throwing the rider to the pavement causing critical injuries. injur-ies. The injured man remained in an unconscious and semi-conscious condition until death came. At the age of 19 Mr. Sherratt joined with other Cedar City men in the ardorous task of bringing lumber out of the mountains for the first building of the Branch Agricultural college, and was one of the few remaining founders found-ers of the school. He was an active ac-tive member of the L D S church and had been a prominent farmer farm-er and livestock grower of Cedar City. Mr. Sherratt was born here on Sept. 13, 1875, a son of John and Christina Bulloch Sherratt. He married Ethel King on Sept. 28, 1919, in the Manti L D S temple. He is survived by his widow, one son, Burns Sherratt: three daughters, Mrs. Leslie (Marion) Hahne, Mrs. Lawrence (Verda) Misel, and Evon Sherratt, all of Cedar City. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Alice Smith of Cedar City. Funeral services will be conducted con-ducted in the Third ward chapel at 2 p. m. Friday, and burial will be in the Cedar City cemetery ceme-tery under the direction of Southern South-ern Utah mdrtuary. |
