Show Christmas Tree Rights Issued for Dixie National Forest Bids for the sale of 2100 Christmas Christ-mas trees to be cut from various parts of the Dixie National Forest For-est w'ere opened on Nov. 21, at the forest supervisor's office in Cedar City, according to Boyd Leonard, timber staff officer. Awards for numbers of trees varying from 250 to 500 in a group were made to 'ive different differ-ent bidders as follows: Ervil Sanders, LaVerkin, 300 trees; Creg V. Burns', Sigurd, 400 trees; C S U Engineers Club, Cedar City, 500 trees; Phil Dick-ensen, Dick-ensen, Pangultch, 250 trees, and Frank B. Dee, Henderson, ' Nev., 500 trees-No trees-No bids were received for 500 trees offered for sale in Parowan Canyon. These trees were advertised in order to help meet the local demand de-mand and to make release .cuttings .cut-tings in areas where trees could be spared from the watersheds, Mr. Leonard said. The Dixie will never be a large producer of Christmas' trees because in most places Ihe trees are1 needed to provide watershed cover and sup-pjy sup-pjy the future need for timber, however, limited harvests of trees selected so as not to damage the stands can justifiably be made, according to Mr. Leonard. |
