Show TV Representative Gives Company's Plan to Council at Special Session A formal offer was presented to the City Council at a special meeting Friday for immediate television for Cedar City. Trans - Community Television Company (TCTV), a California corporation, affiliated with the National Broadcasting Company, made the offer through their sur-very sur-very director, Allan Lowe. The request made to the city council involves permission of TCTV to obtain easement rights from the city to cross streets and aUeys for the purpose of wiring necessary TV cables through the city. According to Mr. Lowe, TCTV, upon the granting of these easement ease-ment rights, Is prepared to build a permanent TV station in Cedar City to telecast both national and local events. Mr. Lowe said that he is prepared pre-pared to have television in operation oper-ation in Cedar City Saturday, Nov. 26. He continued "Trans-Community "Trans-Community TV will move into town a complete mobile TV station sta-tion for the purpose of showing the townspeople a typical programed pro-gramed day." The mobile unit is expected In Cedar City Saturday for the pur-pose pur-pose of demonstrations prior to the public meeting called by the city council to determine action to be taken by the council. TCTV, according to Mr. Lowe, is an organization set up similar to the national organization of Weekly Newspapers. The purpose of the group Is to set up similar awnuub in areas inrougnout tne nation which are TV sterile. On the basis of the establishment of these stations the organizations expects to give "local TV opera-tlon opera-tlon with all the ramifications of national TV as well," Mr. Lowe said. He continued that the organization organi-zation Is three-fold in purpose. First, it Is an engineering organization, organi-zation, set-up to deliver TV where it normally cannot be seen. Second, Sec-ond, it is a program service, and third, it is an advertising house for national advertising or the rural markets. Mr. Lowe appeared before the city council at a noon luncheon Friday and then again Friday evening. At noon he told the city council that the company will not ask for exclusive rights; it is asking for easement rights only. In addition he told the group that Cedar City would possibly be the first station operation of the company using the nationally national-ly advertised named of Cedar City as a part of Its promotion in es-stablishlng es-stablishlng similar broadcasting stations throughout the country. It is the plan of TCTV, he said, to have a received audience of roughly 50,000 within a year.
