Residents of the southern Utah area have been invited by the Jaycees to come to Cedar City Saturday night to see the most outstanding city lighting south of Salt Lake City. In addition to the light turning on ceremonies the Cedar City retail re-tail merchants will open their stores to the public Saturday evening until 8:30 p. m. for citizens cit-izens to see the outstanding Christmas values that are obtainable obtain-able in the "shopping center of Southern Utah." State Renowned As pointed out by Robert Faddis Fad-dis and Douglas Lunt, co-chairmen of the lighting project this Iyear, more money and more time have gone Into the Cedar City Main ctrnnt Phrlutmna T.lnhlintr program than anywhere in the southern portion of the state. Last year the Junior Chamber of Commerce won state honors for the most outstanding Christmas Lighting project. This year with the recently completed drive for funds and the awarding of a Jeep as a grand prize, more money has been appropriated for the Jlghtlng program without additional ad-ditional canvasses of business or residential areas of the community. Additions and alterations to make this year's lighting program pro-gram even bigger than before, I have been made. More plastic ornaments have been purchased, permanent type ornaments, and more lights' have been strung i across Main Street in addition! to lights draped on every light pole from 200 South to 200 North streets. The retail merchants of Cedar Cltv have also bought up stocks of Christmas toys, clothing, hardware hard-ware Items . . . candy, nuts and all sorts of gifts, more than has ever been offered before. With this plan in mind the Jaycees will bring Santa into Cedar City at an earlier hour, making It more conducive to bringing the younger children to see the Jolly old gentleman. In addition helpers' will come with Santa this season to make the distribution of candy and peanuts pea-nuts to help out Old Saint Nick.
