Show County Commission Contemplates 1956 Budget Matters The Board of Iron County Commissioners Com-missioners in regular meeting Monday spent some time in a discussion of 1956 budget matters in preparation for adoption of a tentative budget at the December meeting of the board. The commisioners heard a report re-port from County Clerk W. Clair Rowley giving estimates of available avail-able revenues for the year. He estimated the total amount of funds that may be spent during the coming year at $128,418 which is an increase over the total appropriations ap-propriations for the current year. The 1955 budget was set at $111,-77G.65. $111,-77G.65. Listed in the total was money in the reserve building fund and the recreation fund that may be used during the coming year. Money in the reserve building fund totaling $66,706.68 will be used, it is understood, for the pro posed new City-County library building at Cedar City, and $20,000 from the recreation fund wiU go toward the purchase 'Of Wood's Ranch In Cedar canyon for a summer recreation resort. Other business matters acted upon by the commissioners included in-cluded the appointment of County Coun-ty Sheriff Arthur Nelson as ball comlssloner for the county. The action was taken at the eqiiest of the Utah Highway Patrol. He will be required to post a bond of $500 and will be empowered to collect fines or ball. The commissioners signed an agreement continuing the cooperative cooper-ative extension work in the county. coun-ty. This will necessitate the appropriation ap-propriation of $5,200 for expenses of extension agents during 1956. A report was made that Peter M. Low had been assigned from the attorney general's office to work with Iron County Attorney A. M. Marsden in a study of Jegal aspects of flood control on Shoal Creek In the west end of the county where both state and county roads are endangered. |
