Show Traffic Court Conferences Result in More Uniform Fines, Tightening of Enforcement More uniformity in traffic court policies, improved reporting of convictions for traffic offenses, development of informational data da-ta for Justices of the Peace, in-service in-service training of local police in trafffic matters, and general tightening up of enforcement policies pol-icies across-the-board were some of the apparent results of a highly high-ly successful series of traffic court conferences completed last week. The conferences were held in 11 cities throughout the state, and were attended bw 450 city and county officials, judges, justices jus-tices of the peace, and enforcement enforce-ment officers. Begin at Cedar First of the series of conferences confer-ences was held at Cedar City with representatives from most of the southern portion of the state in attendance. The conferences were conducted conduct-ed by a panel of officials of the Attorney General's office, State Department of Public Safety, and Utah Safety Council. Justice J. Allen Crockett, Supreme Court of Utah, delivered the principal address at each meeting and also participated in the panel discussions. General uniformity in fines and penalties for principal traffic traf-fic violations that cause most accidents was also reached in the series of meetings. Widespread support to the suggestion sug-gestion to hold a single statewide state-wide traffic court conference next year was also expressed. Such a conference would be held in addition addi-tion to the regional conferences and would be conducted by a team of nationally recognized leaders under the auspices of the American Bar Association.
