Show Funeral Services Held for John 8. Davenport, 82 Funeral services were held in the Parowan First-Second Ward chapel at 1 p. m. on Monday for John B Davenport, 82, lifelong resident of Parowan, who died Friday, Nov. 26 at the Iron County Coun-ty hospital from a heart ailment. He had been in ill health for the past several weeks. The services were conducted by Bishop Howard Knight of the First Ward, with Orna Johnson at the piano throughout the services. ser-vices. Speakers were Barbara M. Adams, and Jess W. Guymon with remarks by Bishop Knight. Musical numbers were a vocal duet, "Whispering Hope," by Ethel Bayles and Edna Brown, and a vocal solo, "Goin' Home" by Mrs. Brown, with Mrs. Johnson at the piano. The opening prayer was offered offer-ed by R. Wallace Hulet, the closing clos-ing prayer by Hugh L. Adams and at the city cemetery the grave was dedicated by James C. Applegate, a nephew, of Cedar I ci,y- The deceased was born at Par-J Par-J owan on Nov. 5, 1872. a son of f: William and Anniel L. Davenport. He never married and made his home here throughout his life. He ' engaged In the livestock busi- ness and at one time was one F: of the largest cattlemen in this I section. He stayed for a short p. time with relatives in Las Ve-' Ve-' gas, but for the past several months has resided at the Iron I: County Rest Home here. i |
