Show Florence D. Corry Succumbs After Long Illness j j FLORENCE D. CORRY Mrs. Florence Decker Corry, 43, prominent local church worker and wife of Klwood J. Corry, president pres-ident of Cedar Stake, died early Saturday at her home following a lengthy illness. Funeral services ser-vices were held for her Wednesday Wednes-day in the College Ward chapel. Always active in youth leadership leader-ship activities, Mrs. Corry was the first chairman of the L D S girls' program, inaugurated during dur-ing World War II, and had con-' con-' tinued in many phases of youth 1 and church activities. She was born in Parowan on ' Nov. 21, 1911, a daughter of Ma-honri Ma-honri M. and Harriet Elizabetli iNorris Decker. She attended Par-!owan Par-!owan school and was a graduate jof the Branch Agricultural College Col-lege in Cedar City. Temple Marriage She was married to Mr. Corry in the St. George L D S temple on June 21, 1935, and had resided resid-ed here since that time. Surviving are her husband, six sons and daughters, Kristine, Judith, Steven, Robert, Jeffrey and Elizabeth Corry, all of Cedar City; four brothers and sisters, Mrs. D. C. Dix, Cedar City; Blanche Decker, Los Angeles; Woodrow Decker, Parowan, and Alpine Decker, Fort Lee, Va.; two half brothers, J. Alvin Decker, Provo; Earl M. Decker, Payson, and a half sister, Mrs. Ancil J. Adams, Parowan. Funeral Service The funeral services were conducted con-ducted by Bishop Vernee Frame of the College Ward, with Mrs. Bernella Jones at the organ. Speakers included President David L. Sargent and Dr. Paul K. Edmunds, member of' the stake presidency of Cedar City, and Mrs. Barbara f. Adams ol Parowan, with remarks given by Bishop Frame. Invocation was by Kumen S. Gardner, member of the stake presidency; benediction benedic-tion by Pviilon Knell, president of the stake High Priests quorum, and the dedicatory prayer at the cemetery by Edward Parry, member mem-ber of the stake High Council. The musical program included includ-ed the opening and closing songs, "Jesus, Lover of My Soul," and "Oh My Father," by the stake choir, directed by Reed Berrett, stake chorister; a vocal solo, "Then Shall the Righteous Shine Forth," by Blaine Johnson, accompanied ac-companied by Mrs. Loa Johnson, and a violin solo, "The Berceuse," by Roy L .Halversen, accompanied accompan-ied by Mrs. Johnson. Members of the stake high council were pall bearers and I honorary pall bearers, while members of Mrs. Corry's literary club, the En Avantes, acted as flower girls at the services. |
