Show Resident Taxpayer Jury Duty List Will Be Drawn On Friday of this week, V. Leonard Evans of Parowan and Samuel F. Leigh, Cedar City, will meet at the Iron County Courthouse Court-house here and draw a list of resident taxpayers to serve as jurors during the 1955 calendar year for the district court for Iron County. This announcement was made by W. Clair Rowley, county clerk, under whose jurisdiction the list is drawn. Mr. Rowley states that so many names will be drawn from each of the voting districts in the county, with the number from each district based on the number of votes that district cast in the recent general election, and is based on a ratio of six jurors for each 100 votes cast in the last election. This will mean that approximately 210 names will be drawn for tentative jury service during 1955. This list of names is placed in a jury box and will be drawn from that box when needed during dur-ing the coming year at times and in the number specified by Dir.-trict Dir.-trict Judge V. L. Hovt. When the judge calls for a list of jurors jur-ors to serve at a specified court term, the list is drawn by the county clerk, county treasurer and county attorney, which list is then turned over to the county sheriff for summons to jury dutv. |
