Show Tax Commission Calls For Weighing of Commercial Vehicles Notification from the State Tax Commission to all branch managers man-agers has been given this week of the fact that all commercial vehicles must be weighed after Dec. 1 according to the 1955 registration regis-tration regulations. King Stevenson, local branch manager, pointed out today that he has received instructions from Byron D. Jones, chairman, "to reject any application for the registration of a commercial vehicle ve-hicle which does not have this weight information." Stevenson advised all owners of commercial type vehicles to have this weighing accomplished early in order to facilitate registration reg-istration for 1955. Some question as to the meaning mean-ing of "unladen weight" on the applications, which are now available at the local State Tax office, has arisen, it was pointed point-ed out. In order to clarify this term the motor vehicle division has issued the following definition: defini-tion: "Unladen weight means that in addition to the chasis weight, there should be the body, dual wheels if they are used with the vehicle, spare tires, and such other equipment that is more or loss permanently attached to the vehicles such as extra fuel tanks, sanders. refrigeration units, cement ce-ment mixers, etc." It was further explained that miscellaneous personal property need not be included in the item unladen weight. Stevenson emphasized that "in the long run it will be a saving to operators of commercial vehicles ve-hicles if they have their vehicles properly weighed at the time of registration, because it will save the amount of penalty which will be imposed when the vehicle is later weighed by the Highway Pafrol and found to be improperly improper-ly registered. Questions on this regulation can he answered at the local office of-fice and applications are also available, Stevenson stated. |
