Show American Legion Begins Drive for Members A concentrated effort to subscribe sub-scribe veterans of the southern Utah area into the American Legion Le-gion is being made by the local organization, Post No. 71, according accord-ing to Elton Stratton. It is the hope of the Legion officers that the American Legion in this community can expand, for "the strength of the post depends de-pends on its membership," Strut-,ton Strut-,ton stated. Every veteran of World War I, World W.ir II and the more recent re-cent Korean conflict have earned the right to join the American Legion, he pointed out. Especially Especial-ly are the veterans of the Korean campaign invited to join the veterans vet-erans organization. Throughout the month of December De-cember a campaign for membership member-ship will be conducted by the Legion and Don Knee has been placed in charge of the membership member-ship drive. Each veteran in the area will receive, within the next few days, a letter from the Legion and some literature telling what the Legion can do for the veteran. Strattoti encouraged each man receiving this letter to study the material and decide for himself how important an organization it can be. Included will tie an application for membership. If the veteran. Stratton pointed out, feels that he wants to join; he can return the application to the local post, box 1(77, Cedar City. Utah. The present membership will undoubtedly be split into teams later in the month to follow up the introductory letters, it was pointed out. Any Legion officer will be glad to assist in filling out the application ap-plication and will give out receipts re-ceipts for membership remittances. |
