Show 'Florene Richardson Wins Safety Program Scholarship Florene Richardson, 17, Enoch 4-H Club worker, was awarded a $300 scholarship in Chicago this week for outstanding work in her safety program. The award was made at the 33rd National 4-11 Congress being held in Chicago. The scholarship was awarded by General Motors Corporation, and was one of eight such awards given throughout the nation. na-tion. Florene is now attending the congress in Chicago as the state winner of the General Motors trip award. In her safety project she helped make her community more safety conscious by means of survevs, demonstrations and other aids under the guidance of Helen C. Jones, her local club leader. She held a safety rally, gave first aid demonstrations, prepared window displays, surveyed sur-veyed neighbors' homes, gave radio ra-dio talks and composed and presented pre-sented a skit concerning safety. The scholarship can be used in any accredited college in agriculture ag-riculture or home economics. The 4-H Club program is conducted con-ducted under the direction of the Extension Service, and the 4-H Club Congress is attended by club members from all parts of the country. The congress sessions ses-sions end Saturday. |
