Show Bacea Club Members Learn oi Founding of College The Bacea Club at College of Southern Utah met at the first , dinner meeting in a series for! the year and heard President William R. Palmer, prominent Cedar City historian, tell of the hardships and sacrifices in the building of CSU (at that time the Branch Normal School) in 1897. President Royce Chamberlain announced that the club will meet each month to hear some prominent educator present some aspect In the education field. Bacea Club Is the educational organization at CSU. I Twenty-five members were present with faculty representatives represent-atives to hear Pres. Palmer tell of the sacrifices' of townspeople In the cold winter of 1897 in transporting logs from the snow packed mountains to meet a deadline in completing the first building for the college. President Chamberlain told of the club's activities for the rest of the year. Included Is the spon. soring of two scholarships for outstanding majors' in the field of elementary education, basket-ball basket-ball half time game activities. I and various meetings.
