Show HAPPENINGS IN PflRfiGONAH By Nora Lund j To the Paragonah people I would like to say that I will be gjad to send in your subscription subscrip-tion to the Iron County Record at any time. Look over one of these weekly papers and see what a lot of county news you get for $3.00. May I add that our town will get a more complete coverage of news if you will kindly let mo know of your happenings. It may not seen so important to you but remember this paper has a wide circulation, and your trivial doings do-ings are very interesting to your relatives and friends away from home. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Wahlquist of Cedar City came to our town Tuesday evening at the request of the M I A Special Interest class leaders, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. S. Boardman and showed interesting interes-ting picture ft' ides. The Wahl-quists Wahl-quists recently spent some time in Iran, and the pictures taken in that vicinity made a most Interesting Inter-esting travelogue for our people. After the showing, Mr. and Mrs. Boardman served refreshments to the visitors', the M I A officers and the members of the class. The time in Sacrament meeting meet-ing Sunday was taken up by the young people of the MIA. Fine talks were given by Rose Ann Barton, Delores and Dale Robinson, Robin-son, Farrel Robb, Allan Dailey, and Stephen Topham gave the Story of Christmas as his individual indi-vidual award talk. Helen Jean Dalton played a piano solo as a special musical number. Mrs. Bertha Topham has been in Cedar City since Wednesday to help care for her father, Joseph Jo-seph Stevens, who is seriously ill at the home of Mrs. Lois Bryant. Bry-ant. Miss Larie. Hunt left Saturday for Sacramento, Calif., where she will be employed. She has spent some time home with her mother, Mrs. Lasca Hunt and her sisters Mildred and Janet. Mr. and Mrs. Humphries and baby of Kanab were over night guests Wednesday of her sister, Mrs. Dortha Barton. Mr. and Mrs. Mont Sorenson and ch'.'dren and Scott Tullis of Newcastle were visiting at the Barton home Saturday. Sat-urday. Mrs. Annie Hall of St. George, and her son-in-law, Mr. Cowley of Salt Lake City, called briefly on relatives here Sunday. Mrs. Hall reports a new grandchild in Salt Lake City. She is a sister of Mrs. Hannah Robinson. We regret to report the i'.'ness of Mrs. Katherine Robb in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Robb lived in Paragonah all her life until the past few years. Her thoughtful service and friendship has endeared en-deared her to everyone. Our sincere congratulations go to Milton Dailey and Mrs. Lillian Heap of Parowan, who were married mar-ried Monday in Nevada. Mr. Dai-ley's Dai-ley's son-in-law and daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hollingshead of Mi.1 ford accompanied the couple. The heap family were former residents of Paragonah and it was regrettable when they moved away. We wish the newly-weds every happiness in their marriage mar-riage venture. Jess Robb and boys of Cedar City were in town Sunday visiting visit-ing with his mother. Mrs. Marion Robb and brother Bert and fam- iy- Mrs. Leona J. Stones accompanied accompan-ied Mr. and Mrs. Howard Jones to Salt Lake City for a few days' stay. . Mr. and Mrs. James H. Ander-! Ander-! son traveled to Beaver one day last week to see their daughters. Mrs. Yvonne Lowe and Mrs. Mir-I Mir-I iam Limb and their families. Mr. and Mrs. J. I-eonard Top- ham and Mr. and Mrs. Amenzo Topham spent a few days in Salt Lake City, returning home Sun-day. Sun-day. Mrs. Hannah Robinson came , home with them. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Robb, ac companied by Mrs. Florence Miller Mil-ler of Parowan. returned home i Sunday evening from Salt Lake City after a few days' visit with their mother, Mrs. Katherine Robb. The entire family of eight children were gathered together for the first time in years, with the exception of Charles from Wn. who came in for a few hours after the Paragonah people had ,'eft. The Paragonah school P-TA was reorganized recently. The new officers are: President, Mrs. Golda Topham; vice president, Mrs. Emma Dalton; secretary, Mrs. Matty Barton. Committee members to further the school program are: projects, Chester Benson, J. Lowe Barton; program, pro-gram, Norma Topham and Melva Barton; Finance, Pauline Topham and Hazel Dawn Evans; room mothers, first grade, Roene Lund; second, Joan Davenport; third, RaNae Robb; fourth, Alice Jones; fifth, Wilma Lamoreaux; sixth, Lila Dalton; seventh, Hazel Dawn Evans, and eighth, Delso Talbot. Mrs. Hilma Lamoreaux, advertising adver-tising and publicity chairman, announces the P-TA dance to be he,!d Dec. 26 with the local orchestra or-chestra furnishing the music. A children's dance will be held in the afternoon. All proceeds will go towards school betterment propects. The association would appreciate your full support. Our school principal, Miss Hel-en Hel-en Stones, spent most of last week in Salt Lake City attending attend-ing school principals' meetings. Mrs. Ethel Robb took her place In the school room. The Walker family which has lived in our community for the past few months, moved to Cedar City to make their home. Mr. and Mrs. Piatt Colliding and family of Panguitch called on the Arthur Evans family Friday. Fri-day. Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Lund of Yucaipia. Calif., and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Halsey of Kanosh were visitors at the Terry Lund home on their way to the coast where they expect to sail from San Francisco for the Hawaiian Islands Is-lands on a pleasure trip. Mr. and Mrs. Mae Lean Sim-kins Sim-kins and son, and Mr. and Mrs Lyman Dodge and children of Cedar City spent part of Sunday here with the Gsorge A. Topham family. Mrs. Herbert Topham. Primarv board members, attended their monthly board meeting in Parowan Paro-wan Monday evening. It was held in the form of a Christmas party where a nice time was had by all. |
