Show Recreation Committee Draws Up Parowan Program A report on the proposed recreation rec-reation program for the coming year for Parowan' wag 'given by E. J. King, chairman of the city recreation committee at the reg-ulir reg-ulir meeting of the City Council Monday night, with the proposed program being heartily endorsed by the other members of the council. Mr. King, with committee commit-tee numbers, Howard Adams, Howard Ward, Bruce Decker and chamber of commerce president S. M. Clark, attended a meeting of the county recreation committee commit-tee last week in Cedar City. Members of the county committee com-mittee are Commissioners Jess Cuymon, Warren Bulloch and Lyman Ly-man Sevy, and school board members, Samuel Abbott and Dr. J. S. Prestwich and W. Clair Row-ley, Row-ley, county clerk. This group is preparing a budget of the proposed pro-posed needs of the county-wide recreation program for this year, with funds to be provided by ap-propiiations ap-propiiations from the county and the school district with the communities com-munities cooperating. A meeting was set for Wednesday night to pass on this budget. The program proposed for Parowan Par-owan as reported by Mr. King, is as follows: 1. A playground on the city park for pre-school children; 2. Improvements and enlargement cf the tennis courts at the high school grounds, with added equipment; 3. Sponsor Little and Pony League baseball and a soft-ball soft-ball team for inter-city play; Hire High School Coach Bruce Decker as summer recreation program supervisor; 5 make cooperative arrangements for use of Cedar City municipal swimming pool with recreation supervisor to use bus to haul young people to that city to use the swimming pool twice each week during summer, and 6, prepare for ice skating rink foi winter use. These proposed activities are drawn up under a proposed budget bud-get of $5700, $1200 of which will be put up by Parowan City with other cooperating agencies asked to furnish $4500. |
