Show Young Boxers Entertain Southern Utah Fans in 14 Bout Tournament Last Saturday evening at the College of Southern Utah field-house, field-house, under the sponsorship of the Elks Lodge and C S U, an outstanding athletic boxing tournament tour-nament was held before a large crowd of southern Utah fans. Fourteen bouts were held during dur-ing the evening and of the 14 13 were won by decisions and one bout ended in a knockout. Gary Sorenson of Salina kayoed Scott Skidmore of Delta in the third round in the final performance perform-ance of the evening. Hans Fieg, O J student of the Cedar City High School was unanimously unani-mously chosen as the outstanding out-standing boxer of the evening, for his decision lover Ward Gubler of St. I George. EIRoy 'Butch' Nelson, another Cedar Hans Feig City aspirant who decisioned Monte Noland of Salina was among those considered consid-ered for the coveted title. Winners to Be Named A number of winners, according accord-ing to Leonard Smith, who was in charge of the card, will be sent to Salt Lake City late this month to participate in the AAU Intermountain Meet. Those who will move to the intermountain event will be named in the near future. Considerable assistance was furnished by the managers of Hotel El Escalante and the El-Rey El-Rey Cafe in the feeding and housing of the participants from out-of-town, by offering substantially substan-tially reduced rates. Although some of the participants partici-pants were not in tip-top shape, the card as a whole was outstanding out-standing with each of the amateurs ama-teurs giving their all in their efforts to prove themselves in the fistic field. Both of the boys knew I their way around the ring and they put on a good show. Maxwell Max-well won the close decision by a very few points. Judges for the event were VVirth Bulloch, Yorke Nelson and Joe Burns. Referees were Tony Lambert and Ross Woolsey. All are from Cedar City.
