Show Council Holds Regular March Meeting At the regular March meeting of the Parowan City Council last Monday evening Councilman Dee Robinson reported that a second test had been run on the new well drilled by Parowan City and fields in the canyon, and that this test, although made at a much lower level than the first one, was still disappointing. L. M. Colvin of Cedar City, who made the first test, made this one also, with the pump dropped tp the 115 foot level, with 300 gallons of water per minute being be-ing produced this time which was somewhat better than the first test, but still not what had been expected. He also reported that Mr. Colvin had offered a bid to install in-stall pumping equipment in the well at a cost of $lo47. The application of the Trill Club for a small piece of ground on the city park for the purpose of developing a pre-sctiool children's chil-dren's playground was granted on the recommendation of Councilman Coun-cilman E. J. King of the community commu-nity recreation committee. The area asked for is that lying on the north side of the park, and cast of the driveway leading to the Old Rock Church. Mr. King stated that the recreation com-mitce com-mitce had recommended an appropriation ap-propriation of $200 for this purpose pur-pose in its tentative summer recreation rec-reation program. Police Car Discussed The purchase of a late model used car for the city police department de-partment was discussed, with the car to be equipped with the latest two-way radio- equipment to be used exclusively by the city police po-lice department, so it can cooperate coop-erate with the Iron County Sheriff's Sher-iff's department and the state highway patrol. This matter was turned over to the public safety committee of the council to work out details of the purchase and wnys to finance it. Max Hendrickson, city works supervisor, reported that a survey of the city streets which are to be included in this year's oiling program pro-gram was under way, and that as soon as possible city employees employ-ees and equipment would start hauling in material to build the streets up to grade In preparation prepara-tion for the oiling project. He also stated that culverts on all of these streets were being lengthened length-ened out to a width of 28 feet to allow for a 24-foot strip of oil and a two-foot shoulder on each side. |
