Show Cedar High Redmen Capture Second Place Honors in Dixie Division Cedar City High School Redmen basketball team captured cap-tured second place in the Dixie Division and earned the right to hold the regional tournament in this city when they trounced the Dixie Flyers 58 to 36 last Monday evening. eve-ning. It was played before a near capacity crowd at the College of Southern Utah fieldhouse. As a result of the outcome the Regional Tournament will be held at the fieldhouse Friday and Saturday evenings, Mar. 12 and 13. First game on the schedule will pit the second place team of the Millard Division, Beaver, against the third place entry from the Dixie division, Dixie. The second game Friday evening will pit Cedar Against Delta. Saturday evening the winners of Friday night's games will meet in the first contest to determine de-termine the regional third place and the third team to enter the state Class B tourney. Trophies Iot Winners A new feature has been added to the regional play-off this year and as the feature attraction of the evening the Parowan High School, winner of the Millard division di-vision title, and . Hurricane, winner win-ner of the Dixie Division, will tangle for regional championship honors. Trophies will be presented present-ed at the end of the second night of play to the top three teams of the tournament. No reserve seats will be sold for the tourney; however, sections sec-tions will be reserved each evening eve-ning for the townspeople and students of the various teams until un-til 7:45 p. m. Game time will be 8 o'clock. Tickets will also be placed on sale at the fieldhouse at 6 p. m. each day so that patrons may pick them up prior to game time and will not have to stand in line. Trice of admission has been set at 50 cents for students and . $1.25 for adults for each evening of play. This includes the 10c fieldhouse tax. The added emphasis on the Regional honors should make the tournament an outstanding affair. af-fair. Maintain Lead Monday evening the Redmen rather dominated the game with Dixie Flyers. Only twice was the game tied and the Flyers were never in lead. Tie scores came In the first quarter when it stood at 5 to 5. Early in the second quarter the score stood at 12-all. After that time the Redmen were never neared by the Dixie quintet, quin-tet, who had beaten the Redmen twice during the regular season. At half time the Redmen had stretched the lead to 28 to 17 and they continued to lengthen the distance betwen them in the second half of play. Gale Fife and Jay Perkins led in the scoring parade and they both plaved outstanding floor games. Ronald Mclntyre, although al-though not scoring too heavily, w'as constantly on both the offensive offen-sive and defensive bankboard.
