CARVETH WELLS The inside story of Formosa and some intimate sidelights on Generalissimo and Madame Chiang Chi-ang Kai-Shek, will be told to members of the Escalante Knife and Fork Club by Mrs. Carveth Wells, who will be the guest speaker appearing Monday, Mar. 15 at Hotel Escalante. Mrs. Wells, a traveler who has been in many unusual places as she accompanied her famous husband on his journeys, spent the summer in Formosa, the strategically stra-tegically located little island off the southeastern coast of China, which mighty nations Lave been contesting for, and where the famous Generalissimo and his wife established headquarters. Included in the extended visit was a trip to India and he cities of Calcutta, New Delhi, Agra and the Vale of Kashmir, where Mrs. Wells and her husband studied political and social trend.:. Mrs. Wells is also an author of note, having writen "Raffles, the Jungle Bird," and she is the co- author with her husband of "Ka-Poot," "Ka-Poot," "Exploring the World," "North of Singapore," and other books. r |
