Show Beautification Conference Opens Next Veek An extensive two-day Clean Up and Landscape Conference, sponsored by the Cedar City Pieautification Committee and the U S A C Extensive Service, will be held at the College of Southern South-ern Utah on Friday and Saturday, Mar. 19 and 20, announces El-den El-den Yergensen, general chairman chair-man of the Cedar City Beautification Beautifi-cation Committee. ! Featured speakers at the conference con-ference will be Professor Kenji Shiozawa, professor of landscape architecture at the Utah State Agricultural College, and Mrs. Stella Day, board members of the Associated Garden Clubs of Utah. Both will appear in the opening session to be held at the Bootstrap Boot-strap Theatre at C S U at 2 pJ m. Friday. Prof. Shiozawa will discuss general beautification and landscaping and Mrs. Day will discuss home and street beautification with what we have. Miss Mary L. Bastow of the C S U art department will discuss foundation and front yard planting at the same meeting. meet-ing. An evening session will be held Friday at which short talks on local problems will be given by Mr. Yergensen, committee chairman; Dr. John Beal, chamber cham-ber of commerce president; Gary Macfarlane, chairman junior chamber of commerce clean-up committee; C. B. Cooley, chairman, chair-man, Cedar City planning com-mlrsion. com-mlrsion. Mrs. Day will also talk on the subject of "Improve Cedar City with Home Beautification." and Prof. Shiozawa will discuss coordinated beautification. The final session will be held Saturday forenoon with Mrs. Day discussing home gardening, Prof. Shiozawa making landscaping 1 suggestions, and Arthur Jones discussing the Cedar City tree commission planting program. Good musical programs will be ' presented during each of the three sessions. |
