March 24. in the Branch Agricultural college auditorium by the Utah Opera Workshop, with the concert scheduled to begin at 8:13 p. m. For the concert here, the Opera Workshop will present scenes from some of the most famous and familiar operes, including such ones as "Madame Butterfly" "Rigoletto" and "LaBoheme". The second half of the program will be scenes from the beautiful beauti-ful Fledermaus by Strauss. This opera is produced in English, and is the one that has been so popular at the Metropolitan Opera company this season. One of the most interesting parts of the program, conducted by Carlos Alexander, is that he gives short but complete explanations ex-planations of background for the scenes for the benefit of those not familiar with the opera. The L tah Opera Workshop company com-pany is considered comparable to the L tah Stare Symphony. The symphony uses the finest in instruments in-struments under the direction or one of the very fine conductors, Maurice Abravanel. while the Workshop uses the best of operatic opera-tic voices an i talent in the state, under the direction of Mr. Alexander, Alex-ander, who is ore of the peers in opera production. |
