Show Foreign Students To Visit Schools in Cedar In an effort to instill in the minds of young people that persons per-sons of different lands can live in peace and harmony, and to acquaint them with natives of other lands, five foreign students studying at the Brigham Young University, will meet with students stu-dents and adults of Cedar City from Sunday through Wednesday of next week. The five foreign students, representing rep-resenting the countries of Canada, Cana-da, Hawaii, Mexico. Central America and either Argentina or Brazil, are being brought to Cedar Ce-dar City by the Iron County School Board. Accompanying the students, who will arrive here Sunday afternoon, af-ternoon, will be Raymond Beckham, Beck-ham, extension division of BYU, Housing is being provided by local lo-cal residents, and the entire four-1 day program is under the direction direc-tion of Miss Mary McMillan, consultant con-sultant in elementary education in the Iron county school district. dis-trict. Sunday evening a get-acquaint-ed orientation supper will be held for the visitors, under the sponsorship of the local UNESCO UNES-CO committee. On Monday, the foreign students will meet in the morning with small groups of students at the West elementary. elemen-tary. In the afternoon they will meet with small groups of the high school. Tuesday will consist of meetings in the morning at the East elementary followed by meetings at the junior high school in the afternoon. Wednesday Wed-nesday morning, the visitors will meet again with students at the West elementary school. The five visiting students will be guests of the Lions club on Monday noon, the Kiwanis club Monday evening and the Rotary club on Tuesday noon. The foreign students will be guests of the faculty in Parowan for lunch Wednesday, and will spend the afternoon meeting with students there. Meetings of this type have been held here in the past with students studying in the United States. It is designed to fit In with the social studies program of the students here and give I them a first hand contact with peoples from other lands. |
