Show Needs of Youth Stressed at Conference Here The need for closer association associa-tion of young and old, not as adults and youth, but as individuals, indi-viduals, was emphasized at the Utah State conference of social workers, conducted here Friday for the southern region. It was emphasized that a panel discussion dis-cussion conducted during the conference had proved the fact that youth feels left out of most adult discussion and activities, and that they are "tolerated" rather than "welcomed". Milton C. Thackeray, director, student counseling service, stated stat-ed that the highlight of the conference con-ference was the youth panel moderated by Dr. William H. Brown, with Branch Agricultural Agricultur-al college students participating. Students participating were Patricia Pa-tricia Larson, Walter Gibson, Norma Edwards, Nelda Clark, Donald Jones, Cedar City; Jerry Hansen, Logan; Don Tuft, Monroe, Mon-roe, and Hyrum Ipson, Panguitch. The theme of the conference was "The place and position of youth in leadership", based on the White House conference on youth. The sessions opened at 10 a. m. with Miss Mamie Eck, director di-rector of Iron county public welfare wel-fare department, in charge. The feature of the opening session ses-sion was reports of the White House conference held in December, Decem-ber, with Arch M. Thurman, Salt Lake City, president, Utah state conference of social work; Tillie Winsor, consultant in elementary education, Washington county; Don C.
