Show Education board approves an expanded leave policv LAYTON Teachers who want to earn additional college credits through attendance at certain conferences, workshops and education edu-cation courses might be able to receive some money from the school district to help pay the expense ex-pense of these training programs because of action taken last Tuesday Tues-day by the Davis County Board of Education. The board approved a new expanded sabbatical leave policy that will include compensation for some educational programs as well as continuing the opportunity on a limited basis for teachers to take a leave of absence from teaching in order to pursue an advanced degree in an education-related field. Under the new policy, a teacher wanting to receive compensation for an educational program would submit a written request for compensation com-pensation to a district committee consisting of 12 professionals, six of which were nominated by the DA (Davis Education Association). Each request would be judged on the merit of the proposal and the benefit the district and the students within the district would receive from the teacher attending the workshop, conference or class. |
