Show Art grants awarded The Utah Arts Council Board of Directors has awarded $954,681 in grants to nonprofit groups statewide to support specific arts projects as well as provide general support to larger organizations, said Carol Nixon, UAC director. One hundred forty grants, ranging rang-ing from general support of Ballet West to assistance for community theater productions in Brigham City, were awarded. "The arts have a special and distinct role to play in increasing the quality of life of all our citizens," said Nixon. "We are truly tru-ly pleased that the Utah Legislature, through its funding of the Utah Arts Council, continues its long tradition of support for the cultural life of Utah." The Utah Arts Council is a state agency dedicated to making the arts available to all Utah citizens. The Council is governed by 13 private citizens appointed by Gov. Norm Bangerter to serve four-year terms. I The UAC offers a series of grants, programs and services for arts organizations, schools and individual in-dividual artists throughout the state. Funds administered by the Council are obtained from the state of Utah and grants from the National Endowment En-dowment for the Arts. The BountifulDavis Art Center received $6,500 for 10 visual arts exhibitions at the center during 1991-92; Davis County Handcart Days Fine Arts Exhibit, Sum-merfest Sum-merfest International Arts and Folk Fest, Davis County Competition, Illustration Il-lustration Exhibit, Holiday Show, Photography exhibit, Invitational, High School Competition, Leconte Stewart Festival and the Utah ir i o . i -i . |
