NELSON If you could afford the cost, and had the time to spend, where would you like to spend your summer vacation? It was no surprise that four of the six respondents to this question I placed Hawaii atop their dream vacation list. A Caribbean cruise was the favorite of one, and a visit to Japan headed the list of the other I respondent. J.R. Nelson said a visit to Japan heads his vacation list because, he said, "I have always been fascinated fas-cinated by the Orient, its people and its culture." "But I would also like to return to Europe, especially the Scandinavian Scandina-vian countries, because that is where I served an LDS mission several years ago," he said. Donna Pozzuodi said she would like to return to the Caribbean Islands for another romantic vacation. vaca-tion. "I have been there before and it was wonderful," she said. "Now I want to return to the peaceful atmosphere, at-mosphere, the clear, blue water and accommodations where there are no telephones." Kirk Christensen, an employee of Delta Airlines, had to think for a minute where he would like to spend his dream vacation. "I have the opportunity to travel with the airlines, thus I have been to most of the desired sites of the world. But I still enjoy my visits to Hawaii, he said. He added, however, that friends have told him about Tahiti, "and I'd like to visit there someday." Elizabeth Italasano said she had never been to Hawaii, but it sounds intriguing. "If I were to visit outside out-side the United States, Hawaii would be my first choice," she said. But if her dream vacation were to be stateside, it would depend on others in the vacation party as to her favorite site. "I have relatives in California and I want very much to visit Disney World and the Epcot Center in Florida," said Italasano. "But a dream vacation is what you make it, who you are with, and what you do. I think I could be happy anywhere I am learning new things and seeing new places." Irmgard Zander was bom and raised in Eisenach, Germany, and would like to again visit her many relatives and friends there. She left her home village in what was formerly East Germany several years ago and since that time has lived in several large cities throughout the United States and Europe. "We can be called wandering birds because of our continual moving," mov-ing," said Zander. But we have lived liv-ed in Bountiful for several years and love it very much. ' ' But to visit a place for the first time, Zander said she would like to go to Hawaii. "That sounds like a fun place to visit," she said. Steve Mittelstaedt, age 13, has a lot of time to fulfill his dream vacation. vaca-tion. But in the meantime he is dreaming of a tour of Hawaii or possibly a visit to Australia. Why Hawaii? "I love the water," he said. "And Hawaii has the best water and beaches in the world for swimming, swim-ming, surfing and snorkling." |
