Show Wasatch Humane plans Adopt-A-Cat meet Wasatch Humane is planning activities ac-tivities to promote National Adopt-A-Cat Month in Davis County. Space has been donated by the Bountiful Small Animal Hospital, 880 S. 500 West, for adoptions displays each Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. beginning June 8. "I have seen firsthand the number of abandoned and unwanted un-wanted cats in Davis County," said veterinarian John Martin. "I want to do what I can to help some of them get adopted." Dr. Martin also provides ongoing low cost spaying and neutering in cooperation with Wasatch Humane. DeAnn Hess, director of Davis County Animal Services, reports that last year during peak kittencat season (June, July, August) the county shelter received 1,566 cats and kittens or nearly 22 a day. Of those, 787 were brought in by their owners, and 779 were strays. Of the totai, 35 were adopted and 18 owners came in and claimed their strays. The remaining 1,513 were . humanely euthanized. There will be six to ten catskittens on display each Saturday Satur-day and adoption fees range from $18-$25. Included in the fee are the initial shots, a blood test to ensure the animal is disease-free, and the spay or neuter if the animal is over eight months of age.
