Show Viking students win physics challenge FARMINGTON A team of experts from Viewmont High School won the recent "Physics Bowl" during Physics Day at Lagoon, sponsored by Utah State University. Seniors Trevor Willy, Alex '. Eastman and junior John Harrison ; defeated Logan High School 145- 104 in a double elimination tour- nament. The contest was based on speed - and accuracy in answering physics 2- questions. The Viking trio conquered Timpview and Weber high schools I- and Bonneville High School of I Idaho Falls, Idaho and Weber High " School. I The closest match was a 20-point win over Timpview in the semifinals. semi-finals. Each round lasted 15 I minutes, and participants were re-; re-; quired to 'ring-in' before answering each question. All three Viking participants are high honor students and members of the school's chapter of the National High School Honor Society- Willey is an academic all-starter in track and cross country. He is a Sterling Scholar in science and has received four scholarships to attend Utah State University this fall. He is the son of Michael and Terri Trevor of Bountiful. Eastman placed third in science and third overall in a regional Academic Aca-demic Olympiad contest earlier this year. He is the recipient of a four year, full tuition scholarship at Brigham Young University. He is the son of Eric and Lucile Eastman of West Bountiful. Harrison is an academic all-star and a member of the National Honor Society as well as the school swim team. His parents are Rulon and Pinky Harrison of Centerville. |
