J -A -v- -,-:-'v4 The Trinity Irish Dancers of Chicago, ill. will be one of the featured performers at the Summerfest International In-ternational to be sponsored by the BountifulDavis Art Center on Aug. 9 and 1 0 this summer. The Trinity Trini-ty Irish Dancers recently returned from performing in Cork, Ireland. 4 Irish dancers to perform in Aug. Preparations for the 1991 Summerfest International, sponsored by the BountifulDavis Art Center, are underway, according to Scott Jensen, festival director. The festival will be enhanced by the participation of 12 international folk dance and music ensembles. One of the featured performing ensembles will be the Trinity Irish Dancers of Chicago, IU. The Trinity Dancers consist of 35 young men and women who perform per-form traditional Irish "step dancing," which is the forerunner of American clogging. The Trinity Dancers have recently returned from Cork, Ireland, where they won their second World Irish Dance Championship. The group will be featured on i Johnny Carson St. Patrick's Day show, to be aired nationally March 15. The dancers have performed for President and Mrs. Bush in the White House as well as in Monaco for the Royal Family. They have been the guests of Irish Prime Minister Charles Haughey, and recendy returned from performances in Japan. Under the direction of Mark Howard, the troupe performs per-forms to live music, wearing authentic Irish costumes, complete with ancient Celtic embroidered designs and handmade lace. Performances in Bountiful will mark the ensemble's western U.S. debut. Summerfest International will be presented on the grounds of the Bountiful LDS Tabernacle, Aug. 9-10. |
