Show council Gramoll said he would not comment com-ment on Coon's assertion that Bountiful could have joined in a suit opposing the pipeline's Wasatch Wa-satch Variation route free of charge. "Coon has made the accusations. We know what they are and now we need to have the Mayor respond." he said. The council would know after Wednesday's meeting what, if any action should be taken against Coon, Gramoll said. "I've been a very unhappy camper since Renee made her accusations ac-cusations of corruption in January. I feel she should have put forth some evidence at that time," Gramoll said. In a letter to the editor submitted to the ClipperMonday, Linnell SEE PIPELINE ON A-2 I Pipeline CONTINUED FROM Al asserted that Coon provided "not one shred of information or evidence to respond to the council mandate that she produce evidence of corruption in Bountiful." He characterized Coon's attempts to discredit his actions as "a frustrated person's attempt to find a scapegoat for her personal failure,' to stop the . pipeline. The mayor reiterated his stand that the council had decided not to spend public funds to pursue litigation litiga-tion fighting the suit mat they had been told they had only a 10 percent chance of winning. Coon told the Clipper in a telephone interview Monday she has never actually said Linnell or the City Council is "corrupt. I said there was evidence of corruption," Coon said. She explained she has evidence of attempted bribery of a Davis County Sheriffs deputy by "a man who said he was employed to condemn private property for the pipeline." She said she also has evidence that an appointee to Gov. Norm Bangerter had "his job threatened" if he got involved in opposing the pipeline. But, "What Mayor Linnell has done is morally unsound," Coon said. |
