Show SJSC enrollment highest ever CEDAR CITY -4 Winter quarter enrollment at Southern Utah State College is the highest ever with 2,017 students in attendance. Enrollment is up 21 students over last year's winter ; quarter figures 1 according to statistics prepared by SUSC Registrar Ward S. Robb. "We've pretty much settled in at just over 2,000 students," said (or nations) other than Utah. A year ago there were 1,996 students attending SUSC winter quarter; 258 of them were non-residents. "The increase in out-of-state tuition has, in effect, eliminated SUSC as an education choice for many non-residents," Church said. Fifty-one percent (1,037 students) of SUSC's winter quarter enrollment are men, and 49 percent (980 students) are women. Full-time equivalent (FTE) enrollment is down 1.8 percent over last winter quarter. FTE enrollment is determined by the total numnber of credits taken by all students divided by 15, the number of credits hours considered "full time." SUSC's FTE enrollment this quarter is 1,846 compared to 1,879 last year. "This means that the students we have here are generally taking slightly fewer credits this quarter than they did a year ago," Church said. - "A significant number of SUSC students are married and are working while attending college," he said. Sterling R. Church, SUSC Dean of Students. "There were 2,106 students on campus fall quarter up 48 students from the year before and we lost 89 students or 4.2 percent of the student body to attrition." "There is generally a loss of students between fall and winter quarters," Church said, "with personal and financial reasons the prime causes." According to fall quarter statistics there are 733 freshmen, 440 sophomores, 374 juniors and 470 seniors attending SUSC. Of the total 2,017 students, 1,767 are enrolled in bachelors programs, the other 250 are enrolled in vocational-technical programs. Of the 2,017 students, 192 are residents of states |
