Show ACT deadline nears CEDAR CITY The registration deadline for the next American College Test Assessment (ACT) will be March 5 at Southern Utah State College. The actual test will be administered at SUSC April 3. The three hour and 15 minute assessment measures a student's achievement levels in math, natural science, English " and social sciences i in terms of local and national percentiles, according to Gary Dunford, director of counseling and testing at SUSC. ACT forms can be obtained at the SUSC Career Center, Administration 102, or from high school counselors. Information about the test can be obtained by calling the career center, 586-5420. Those outside Cedar City can call toll free, 1-800-662-1897, extension 5420. ............ "Entering freshmen are no longer required to take the ACT to be admitted to SUSC," Dunford said. "It is, however, an excellent tool to help advise students in academic programs." An interest inventory is included with the test. Students take the hour-long hour-long assessment when they register to take the ACT. The inventory, Dr. Dunford said, helps the student decide upon a vocational choice and educational major. It is also used by the college in development of student profiles. |
