Show Beaver, Iron residents can claim money SALT LAKE CITY -Several Beaver and Iron County residents, or past residents, are among 4,000 Utahns that have some $900,000 in unclaimed cash waiting for them if they will apply for it. Accoring to State Treasurer Edward T. Alter, the money came from a . number of different places, including credit unions, banks, savings and loan institutions and from the state itself. By state law, the treasures's office will take possession of the abandoned property if not claimed explained Alter. It is the responsibility of the bank or other holding institution to attempt to locate the owners. If, however, they are unable to locate the owner, the bank or other holding institution will contact the state treasurer's office. The state then will assist in trying to locate the owners of unclaimed property. Unclaimed state warrants mailed out and returned as undeliverable number in the thousands and total about $300,000.
